The Canera Ideal Hearts Diamond

The Canera Ideal Hearts (CIH) Diamond is our vision of a supremely crafted Hearts & Arrows Round Brilliant diamond and represents the pinnacle in cut quality. The CIH Diamond exhibits exemplary brilliance, fire, scintillation and superior optical symmetry.

Crafting Nature's Beauty

A diamond's journey spans a billion or more years through the earth's depths under extreme physical stress and temperatures. Yet only at the hand's of man is this beauty of nature realized and perfected. Reflecting the evolution of a rough diamond, a similar yet shorter evolution has taken place in man's ability to craft these gems into a stone that maximizes the optical properties of diamond.

The Canera Ideal Hearts (CIH) - Super Ideal Hearts & Arrows Diamond represents the pinnacle of craftsmanship in a round brilliant diamond. Reflecting their rarity, less than 1% of diamonds polished today will be true Hearts and Arrows diamonds. This rarity comes from the fact that Hearts and Arrows patterns are extremely sensitive to flaws in symmetry from poor craftsmanship in the cutting process. The Canera Ideal Hearts, Super Ideal Hearts and Arrows diamond exhibits exemplary physical and Optical Symmetry , Light Performance while presenting a sublime combination of Brilliance (white light), Fire (colored light) and Scintillation (play of white and colored light in motion).

The Process

Canera Ideal Hearts, Hearts & Arrow Diamonds begin with the selection of the world's best rough diamonds. The diamond in the rough, is passed on to master diamond cutters who represent centuries of amassed knowledge of diamond cutting. The experience and skill of the polisher is further enhanced with the use of the world's most modern diamond polishing technologies. After the rough diamond is polished, the stone is further inspected and only stones exhibiting ideal optical symmetry through hearts and arrows patterns continue to the next stage. The verification of Canera Ideal Hearts, Hearts and Arrows Diamonds is done through AGS Laboratories, which is known as being one of the most rigorous laboratories in the world. Affirming its precision, Canera Ideal Hearts diamonds always achieve the distinction of receiving AGS Laboratory's highest scores of 0 or Ideal, for Cut, Polish, Symmetry and Light Performance otherwise known as AGS 000.

The billion year old journey is not complete though and a diamond will not be fit to carry the Canera Ideal Hearts brand until our in-house gemology team individually inspects each and every stone.

  • Each Canera Ideal Hearts diamond must have superior optical symmetry though perfectly shaped and symmetric Hearts (Fig.1) and Arrows (Fig. 2) patterns.
  • Each Canera Ideal Hearts diamond must have exemplary Light Performance based on our own standards above and beyond the AGS 0 Light Performance grade.
  • Each Canera Ideal Hearts diamond must pass our own standards of physical symmetry and polish which are verified using high resolution microscopy and reflector technologies.
  • Each Canera Ideal Hearts diamond must fall within Victor Canera's Ideal proportions, percentages and angles. Canera Ideal Hearts Diamond will therefore have very similar physical proportions and optical characteristics.

Only after this long and arduous process from rough to polished to laboratory verification and later through Victor Canera gemological quality control will a diamond achieve the Canera Ideal Hearts brand.

CIH Compared to Others

The Canera Ideal Hearts - Super Ideal Hearts & Arrows diamond goes through some of the most rigorous inspection and analysis process in the industry. In order for the diamond to achieve the Canera Ideal Hearts brand, all CIH diamonds must have superior Optical Symmetry through perfectly formed Hearts (Fig.1) and Arrows (Fig. 2) patterns, achieve the coveted AGS 000 or triple Ideal grade from AGS Laboratories and pass Victor Canera's own standards of physical and optical symmetry and light performance. Whereas many diamonds are marketed as being Hearts & Arrows Diamonds, the consumer must be aware that there are levels of precision within diamonds marketed as being Hearts & Arrows.

  1. A Canera Ideal Hearts - Super Ideal Hearts & Arrows Diamond
  2. An AGS 000 diamond with a very good hearts pattern. Not CIH due to imbalanced Vs (1:30 & 3 o'clock), incision between clefts (1:30 & 3 o'clock) and hearts size variation (7:30 - 10:30 o'clock).
  3. A GIA diamond with Excellent Cut, Polish and Symmetry; Triple Ex. Broken and asymmetric hearts, hearts size variation (12 & 7:30 o'clock) Vs, incisions between clefts, imbalanced Vs.
  4. A GIA triple Very Good Diamond. Little to no hearts pattern.

  2. An AGS 000 diamond with a very good arrows pattern. Not CIH due to shaft\arrows misalignment (1:30 & 6 o'clock), crooked and asymmetric arrows, scattered triangles.
  3. A GIA diamond with Excellent Cut, Polish and Symmetry; Triple Ex. Not CIH due to crooked and asymmetric arrows, convoluted arrows pattern, scattered triangles .
  4. A GIA triple Very Good Diamond. No arrows pattern visible.
